Weight training is the process of using weights as resistance to strengthen the desired muscle groups through planned and implemented exercises.
Resistance training is similar to weight training but is a lot broader, as it does not only utilise weights but any other equipment that can place muscles under extra resistance; such as bands, machines or the weight of an individual.
In both categories there are a broad catalogue of exercises that an individual can perform to strengthen certain body parts. The links below highlight some of these exercises:
Back
Biceps
Chest
Core
Legs
Shoulders
Triceps
Not only are there many different exercises that can be utilised to focus on the desired muscles but there are also different training methods that can also be employed to gain the sought-after results.
Approaches to Weight Training
Anyone undertaking any form of resistance training is often faced with the option of using either machine based or free weights. Therefore it is essential that those individuals fully understand the advantages and disadvantages of each.
