Refereeing


The referee’s role in modern day soccer is more pressurised than ever before. At the top flight every decision is analysed by millions of people and can potentially decide the livelihood of an extraordinary number of people. On a localised scale it is the referee who can determine the fate of many teams. For this reason the coach should have a full understanding of the referee’s role, the laws of the game and issues surrounding their performance, so that they are capable of viewing a game through their eyes.
